My Developmental Injuries And Recovery In Brief
Here’s an About The Author chapter for my upcoming brain owner’s quick start user guide
Like a lot of kids, I got hurt growing up.
And like all hurt kids, I raised defenses to protect myself. There are many to subconsciously choose from, but I favored the wildly popular SHIELD OF SELF-HATE.
I also veered hard toward the classic SELF-ABANDONMENT DEFENSE as I anxiously scrambled to grab whatever connection I could.
Once these and other early defenses were in place, I took them everywhere with me, whether they helped or not.
By the time I finally recognized the extent of my fortifications, and what was needed to tunnel out, I was on Medicare.
Still, it’s better late than never! Thanks to others, common sense, and luck, I’m making it out. There’s more to do, but I’m already finding a surprising new ability to hang out in the present alongside the difficult emotions that used to scare me away into the past and future.
I hope you find something useful in the upcoming pages. I’d like to think that I can save others from the kind of suffering I’ve endured. And that this will help relieve the pressure and save the world. I realize the reality will fall somewhat short of that. Still, if it is of any use, I’ll be delighted.
Brilliant! Honestly, I've never seen anyone so simply, accurately, humorously, and accessibly illustrate these common trauma-based psychoses. You've got a valuable gift, and though it's been a hellish journey, you've found a way to release yourself from that prison and pass the key around to others. Very impressive! (And I'm not just blowing smoke here.)
I really admire your courage to be so honest and vulnerable David, and yes, your work does help others and I'm glad you feel safe and well enough to share. Thank you.
