Seems like you've been channeling Lao Tzu

"Fame or integrity: which is more important?

Money or happiness: which is more valuable?

Success or failure: which is more destructive?

If you look to others for fulfillment, you will never truly be fulfilled.

If your happiness depends on money, you will never be happy with yourself.

Be content with what you have; rejoice in the way things are.

When you realize there is nothing lacking, the whole world belongs to you".

Tao Teh Ching #44 (Stephen Mitchell translation)

Very cool! Thanks. I don't know it much. But truth is just one thing, so it makes sense that it's all been said many times before.

I'm not sure about the looking to others for fulfillment part. Don't people play a huge role in our sense of self, safety, and connection?

So many good thoughts and sentences here, David. And the cartoons are always icing on the cake.

Thanks, Dan! And so good to hear that there's a cake under the icing!

I guess agreeing with your lemon metaphor makes me a sourpuss, too.

Celebrate humanity. "Ask not what your country can do for you, ask what you can do for your country".
